Hi all,

Just wanted to ask everyone to keep Miles in their thoughts. He has an appt. on Monday 5/24 for his nueter. :comfort
Even though I know he will do fine, I am still nervous! I have to drop him off around 7am and they keep him over-night.. they said that they'll do a good job of managing his pain, poor little bug. Im going to be the crazy Momma calling every 2 hrs. :hysterical What does everyone think about having the pre-surgical blood work done?? He's only 10 months, so we are on the fence....

On a positive note, Rob and I are looking forward to spending the day with Cash! I wonder what its like to only have one dog! :ld

Will let everyone know how my babes does!

Good luck little man!!!!!! He's going to do GREAT!!!!!

I don't know what to say about preop blood work so I'll let Jenn or someone more in the know than me answer that one!

Most vets I have known offer the pre-op bloodwork but don't think it's necessary until the dogs are about 7 years and older.
Personally I never had it done with any of my dogs before surgeries but then the only surgeries they had were for spay/neuters and a knot to be removed but they were all young dogs.

I'm sure all will go well with your boy, but I'll send extra get quick vibes his way the 24th.
Please let us know how he is as soon as you hear the A-OK from your vets office.

Sending positive healthy vibes your way for Monday! I know he'll do beautifully. I can't remember about the pre-op blood work. I'm sure we probably did it b/c all of our vets have always done more than was necessary and we are bit clueless when it comes to that kind of stuff:). I think they see "sucker" when we walk in. With Cash being so young, you'd probably be fine without it, but I'm not any kind of expert (OBVIOUSLY! :Silly )

Let us know how he does! I wish they would let him come home sooner to you, I always get nervous when my pups are away from home for too long:).

Hugs your way, b/c I know Monday is going to be a tough one! I'm sure he'll do fine, though:).

I ALWAYS do the blood work, simple reason being if there is not anything wrong with the values you have a baseline for the future. However, if there is something out of whack then you know before your baby goes under anthesia. I am a worrier. Kidney and liver values being the main things to look at, they both work as filters for the anthesia. JMO. Good Luck! I know he will be fine. :hearts

I'm with Kate in that I wish they would let him come home to you earlier. That would drive me NUTS not being able to help my babies right after their surgery. I know that whenever I've had surgery (and I have had a LOT of surgeries unfortunately!) the one thing that I want to do immediately upon waking is GO HOME!!!!!!!!!!! Swear, that's the first thing I say after gimme my glasses so I can see. LOL I always recoup better in my own home.

I'll be thinking of you and Miles in the morning. I'm sure he'll be fine, but I know how we all worry when it's our pup facing any kind of procedure. Be sure to let us know when you've heard from the vet!

My baby is home!! He is just not himself  I feel so bad for the little guy. Besides being all drugged out on pain meds, he is doing really well and responded good to surgery. Hopefully he will be feeling a lot better tomorrow. Cash will be home from my moms tonight...so Im sure he will be happy to see him. Only problem is... no rough-housing or rough play for 10-14 days!! :shock Somebody tell me how I am going to keep two boxers from rough housing?!! :help

Crate one while the other is out. Don't give them the opportunity to rough house. If you don't crate, then keep them in seperate rooms. Where there's a will there's a way to keep them from rough housing.

So glad to hear that all is well!
I'm with Pam on keeping them separated - it's really the only way to be sure they won't start to rough house. They might not like it too much, but it won't be long before they can make up for the separation!

Glad to hear he's home! I always hate to see them all drugged and uncomfortable, but he'll be feeling good really soon, then you have the hard job of keeping him still! If they can't be calm together, I agree, keep them separated for a few days. You don't want to risk him hurting himself. Good luck with it, though! I know it's hard:).
