I bet that was scary for you. Some dogs do a lot of gulping and end up vomiting after eating. My lab just eats fast and gets bloated with gas and belches--just as bad if you ask me. If it was a one time deal I would wait and watch--he may be going through a growing spurt--check the back of the bag and make sure you are feeding according to the directions. I have seen special bowls that have something in the center so they have to slow down and work for their food. One time I heard someone had put a tennis ball in the dish so they had to eat around it to slow them down. JAAACK would just dump the bowl to get the ball out of the way. Was he really chocking or doing the doggy gag???? Hope you find your answer--you may try googling on the internet to see any suggestions too. Hang in there it only gets funner with these crazy mongruls.

There is a special bowl that you can order online that makes them eat around these "posts" types of things that are part of the bowl. It's supposed to keep dogs who wolf their food down to eat slower. It's supposed to help decrease the change of bloat and the food regurgitation that they do when they eat too fast.

No need to buy an expensive bowl, I used a can of peas or soup with the label removed. You can start with a full size can and then once he slows down go to a half sized can. The bowls just have raised nubbins on them to make the dog slow down. The can worked for Bristol. Only had to use it for six months, now she eats slower than the other two:) Good Luck!

Running through the house 8 times back and forth = "The Zoomies" Big Sarge gets them ALL the time. At least twice a day and he's 3 years old. It's not just a puppy thing. LOL

Stealing stuff - yeah - I think Baby Sarge is an awful lot like Big Sarge. If so, man, are you in for a great life FULL of laughter, love, and cleaning up after him. ROFL :hysterical :hysterical :hysterical :hysterical :hysterical :hysterical

lol - yesterday, Lexie got the zoomies when her skin brother returned from a friends house and raced all around the yard about 6 times. She'll be 6 in November, so definitely not just a puppy thing!

Baby Sarge sounds like quite the character!! :) I hope you can find a solution for the food wolfing. Two of my mom's dogs are like that, but thankfully they don't choke on it. They are just speed eaters.

I LOVE watching my pups get the zoomies:)haha. Lucy was tearing up the backyard yesterday. It was hilarious!

Our female, Lucy, will not go to the bathroom in another yard either. We had a heck of a time when we moved. We had to take her back to our old house once a week or so b/c she would just hold it (or go in the basement)! It took her about a month before she started going #2 at our new house. Serious pain, but it's also nice b/c I know I never have to take a baggie with me on our walks:)haha.

:WTG1 Sargie on being such a good puppy with the nephews!! :)

It takes an act of God to get JAAACK or his sister Pepper to poo outside of their compfort zone too. (unless it is raining outside and the garbage truck is going by then he thinks the basement is his comfort zone)--I think it is just the dog and their inner trained self. We teach them to go in a certain spot and by golly they are going in their spot. Zoomies are great we call it a puppy buzz but JAAACK is getting to be one mature puppy. :shock
